Lessons from my Math Struggles

There are many great lessons from my math struggles. Like so many people, I have a rocky history with this subject. But, through overcoming those struggles, I learned to appreciate the nuances of specialized instruction. And, I experienced how a supportive educator can make all the difference for a student.

As an Educational Therapist, I carry those lessons with me into my own practice. It is such a satisfying feeling to be able to put my trials – and ultimate triumph – with numbers to good use.

Check out my story – and lessons from my math struggles – below.

Do you or your child have a special educator in your life, like Sister Theresa was for me? Educators change lives, and I am so glad that Sister Theresa took time with me and invested in my education the way that she did.

(If this story resonated with you, I talk a lot more about my experience as a student growing up in this blog post.)

Did you find math (or another subject) challenging as a child? Has that helped you relate to your child’s learning challenges in a new way?  Let me know in the comments below, and we’ll keep the conversation going.
